This month on an Agents Mystery Case is a challenge to Blog like there’s nobody reading. I love this challenge and going to take it up. How great does that mean I don’t have to worry about my terrible grammar and spelling? It’s funny as a blogger there’s always talk about being in a niche, what’s your niche, niche, niche bloody niche. Arrrghh!! I have already change my direction a few times trying to find my “niche”. The whole reason I called my blog Julie in the Making so I could make it anything I liked. I am so please with my name but I am think I am going to change direction again. What you say??? Why? (obviously this is a rhetorical question as nobody is reading).
Here’s my why? When I finally made the jump from free blogging to getting my own domain I was motivated to have choice to create a blog that may help me work from home. As most of you know I am a teacher and although I am not giving up teaching I prefer to teach only a couple of days a week. Full time as a working mum for me is not an option. I have worked too hard to have children to give all my energy to someone else’s child. I want to work from home and choose my day, not have my day chosen for me.
What’s going to change you ask? My blog is bitsy. A bit of kids activities, a bit of teaching, a bit of cooking, a bit of homemaking and finally a bit of printables. It’s all over the place. Are these my passion? In all honesty NO. Don’t get me wrong I do love these things but I am not passionate about it. I think I need to follow what is my passion. Passion you ask? What passion?
Here’s the bit of the post of blog like nobody’s reading. I am putting it out there. Some of you know I love making videos, I have made a few little documentaries in my time. Firstly, I am going to start vlogging. Scary, yes but so what. People will laugh, I will laugh, but how else will I learn the skills of vlogging/film if I don’t just start. It will get better but what have I got to loss. Nothing. Got to start at the bottom to make it work.
Secondly, I love motivational content and helping people. Who doesn’t love Zig Ziglar or Tony Robbins. Don’t get me wrong, I am not putting myself in their category. I wish LOL. I originally did my degree in Psychology as I wanted to help people, help change peoples lives and motivate them. I still feel the same way 20 years on. Then 10 years ago I went into teaching which is also helping people, training people and you certainly have to motivate people day in and day out in the classroom.
Here’s where my thinking has gotten to. I have the skill set, I have the camera, I have the passionate. Why not jump in the pond and start swimming. If I don’t like it, if it fades away, if I get too busy then it doesn’t matter that I stop as my blog is called Julie in the Making. I can just make a cake and blog away on that again if I want.
So there you have it. What do you think? (if you are reading) Now that I have put it out there I had better dust off the old video camera and have a play. Get ready to have a laugh and start watching Julie really in the Making.
What’s your passion? Would you just give it crack?
