Balance is my key words for this term. I have been burning the candle at three ends for a while now and I want to put balance back into my life. I want to choose how my day looks. My sister once told me about the Life Balance Triangle and I love it. It’s so simple but by knowing about it in a triangle seems to work for my head.
The big epiphany with the Life Balance Triangle is if you put a lot of work into one or two corners the other corner suffers. We all know this but when in black and white it helps.
Here are the corners when they are on super charge:
The Home Corner – my house is perfect all the time, my children are always looking a million dollars, I play and sing with the children and do amazing daily activities and crafts with them. I alway provide healthy home cooked meals for my children and they never have more than 2 hours screen time per day. Plus my gardens are immaculate.
The Health Corner – I am doing my exercise daily and have ab’s of steal, I hit 10 000 everyday, I am eating perfectly (no sugar, no processed food and everything made from scratch that has been blessed by a hippy) and drinking 2 litres of water per day everyday, filling in My Fitness Pal and achieving all my goals in my fitness challenges with my mates with my fit bit.
The Career Corner – my career is on fire. I am at the top of my field, I am well respected, earn a fabulous income, jet set around the city or country. I am on all the committees and have a diary book solid.
Now imagine if you were doing all of these. You’d be rocking in a corner. If you are strong in one or two corners the other corner suffers. If I am a champion career woman with a perfect home, my health will suffer, if I have the best home and up to scratch with my health my career will suffer. There is no way we can do it all.
I grew up in the 70’s. We were told that we could have it all. Our fore mothers, bless them thought that the messages they were sending us was one of empowerment and help to us. Which is great they have given us so many rights. I appreciate them all, thank you. The right I like the best and is very surprising is that women where not allowed to get a loan with out their husband or fathers to sign for them. This was the case until 1981!! What if you didn’t have a husband or father?? What if they were both idiots?? Yes they have empowered us to make choices and live our lives how we want. But one area they were wrong was we can’t have it all. It’s an impossible dream.
Off the soap box and back to the Life Balance Triangle. We don’t have to do everything perfect or be the best in every corner. The key is to have a bit of time to work on our own health and exercise but I don’t need to banging it out in the gym for hours. Do some work that makes us happy but life is not work. Down size your mortgage and have a smaller house and more happiness if money if the problem. Don’t worry if you leave the dishes or the floor is a mess. Sit back, have a cup of tea and laugh with the kids. I am going to take my own advice and try to make it more simple but continue to move forward in the best way that I can. I want to have some balance.
What do you do to balance your life? Does it get out of balance sometimes?
