I have never owned a slow cooker before and last year at the summer fair in Busselton I won one. It was on a chicken/chocolate wheel that the Lions Club was running. I love a chocolate wheel, it’s my all time favourite at Casino. The Lions man was selling his tickets and I bought the last ticket and the rubber clicked over to my number….. winner!!! Yeah haa. It was early in the fair and I had a whole trailer load of products to pick from. Thrilled to pieces to have gotten a slow cooker. So now that it’s winter it’s time to get it cranking.
On Facebook it has been really funny as I posted up a couple of pictures of what recipes I had in the slow cooker and slow cooker madness happened over the next couple of weeks. A few friends and I have been saying and posting up our slow cookers. It’s been really funny. But I have absolutely been loving using my slow cooker. I can’t believe that it has taken me so many years to get on the wagon.
So far I made a chicken curry, damper, a couple of soups and carbonara. They turned out really well and I want to a few beef recipes but I need to defrost the meat and keep forgetting until it’s too late. The carbonara was really good but don’t cook it for too long otherwise it turns to mush. I only have pictures of the before cab and my after damper. The damper was ok but won’t be cooking it again. It’s a bit to dense. Here are the pictures.
If you have slow cooker fever a must visit website is Slow Cooker Central. There are hundreds of recipes, there’s even a recipe for chocolate crackles. Pretty much anything you can think of people put in a slow cooker and crank it up.
Today I have missed the slow cooker boat again. The chicken is still defrosting. I think it will chicken, pasta with broccoli and pine nuts today. The kids will eat it and it’s plain after everyone being sick yesterday.
What’s your favourite slow cooker recipe??
Happy Slow Cooking.
